Ice Cream Sandwich delayed for Sim-free Galaxy S2 owners

Samsung Galaxy S2 owners who bought their phones without a Sim will be the last to get the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update.

Samsung Galaxy S2 Users who bought the Samsung Galaxy S2 without a Sim will have to wait a bit longer for the ICS update
In an interview with CNET UK, Samsung said those who bought the s2 outright would have to wait until all mobile networks had finished testing the update before receiving it, to ensure it works.
Simon Stanford, VP of Samsung Telecommunications and Networks for Samsung UK and Ireland, said: 'As an open-market customer you will be on a variety of networks, so it's got to work on whichever network you have chosen.'
Stanford also tried to allay the anger of Sim-free S2 users, who he admitted would have expected to be at the front of the queue for updates since they are not held back by a network.
'It's not a switch in Korea and then the whole thing just activates every device that is out there,' he said.
'We work very closely with the networks to help them get ICS out.
'Vodafone we're expecting imminently. Open market will be once we've got all of the operator pieces on board.'
So far, operators such as Three and O2 have pushed out the ICS update.
However, Stanford said that he hopes in future that all users will be able to get updates at the same time.
'We don't want to disadvantage anyone, we don't want to say that they have to buy it from anywhere, we want everyone to have the same experience, whether or not it's open-market, network, to us they're exactly the same,' he said.
