Microsoft Windows Phone Tango update coming in April 2012

Hold onto your hats if you have a smartphone powered by the Windows Phone software.  Microsoft just announced they will be getting the “Tango” update for the operating system out to devices in April of this year.  The update will bring the version of software up to 7.5 and include a host of fixes and feature improvements.  The company made the announcement at the Mobile World Congress event this week saying would bring support to lower range handsets as well.
In recent announcements, Microsoft said that the hardware requirements to get the update would rule out a bunch of phones on the lower end, but according to the new update notes, Tango can be downloaded on devices with less than 512MB of RAM and processors slower than 1GHz.  This will give those customers a chance at a more affordable smartphone option with the latest version of the operating system to play with.  The update will also add some new features to higher end handsets also, like the ability to add more than one picture, audio clip or ringtones to MMS already confirmed.
When the ZTE Orbit launches it will be running the latest software version of the Windows Phone operating system, according to reports.  According to what the company has mentioned at the Mobile World Congress event, entry level phones might have more restrictions even though they will be able to run the newest update.  Restrictions like no support for some applications and some apps might even use multi-tasking support.  Mobile applications that play music in the background also would not work because there is not enough RAM for the action to get processed.  A company rep said the developers will be asked to test all applications on the Tango software just to see how the app would fare.
The SkyDrive and Bing Local Scout apps have already been tested and the company said that users with an entry-level phone will not be able to upload more than one picture at a time if they have 256MB of RAM.  Right now, the company said that over 95 percent of the Windows Phone apps will be supported on devices with only 256MB of RAM.  Tango devices will also get better MMS support as users can now send more than one photo per message.  Tango has also added support for audio and video in MMS texts.
