HBO just announced that the HBO Go on-demand service will be coming to the Xbox 360 on April 1st, just in time for the second season of Game of Thrones. Although we heard back in October that HBO Go was on its way to the console, we'd not heard any word of a launch date until now. To use the service, you'll need to have a subscription to HBO, and have downloaded the latest dashboard update. HBO Go joins a growing list of TV services available on Microsoft's console — Comcast, Verizon's FiOS, and Hulu Plus are either coming soon or already available — making the Xbox a serious contender for your cable box's space under the TV.
What We Want In XBOX
HBO GO is a great app, I have been using it on my laptop for a long time, but now that it is on my Xbox I can enjoy my favorite movies and shows on the big screen. At least I know that tonight when I get off work at DISH I can go home and watch some of the 5 episode I have left in season 1 of Game of Thrones to refresh myself with before Season 2 starts on Sunday. I find it’s a bigger bummer that Comcast and Time Warner customers won’t be able to access HBO GO from other platforms, but DISH subscribers can, I guess we know who wants to add value to their subscriber base.
