Spain is among the countries with most holidays

22 days holiday are supplemented by 14 fiestas

Spain is among the countries of the world which has the most holidays. Both Spaniards and the Portuguese have 22 days holiday a year by law, while the Norwegians have 21.

In addition to the 22 days holiday, the Spanish also enjoying 14 fiesta days taking the total of 36 free days. Only Austria and Malta have more free days, at 38 per years.

Workers who have the least days off are in the Philippines, China, Thailand and the United States. The data comes from the World Guide to Profits and Employment 2011 collated by the human resources consultants, Mercer.

Meanwhile the Swiss have voted no in a referendum to increase their holidays from four to six weeks a year. 66.5% of the Swiss rejected the two week extension to their time off. The Government had suggested the extra holidays to reduce the levels of stress and fatigue among the Swiss, and the idea was supported by both the unions and left wing.
